5.30pm Photoshop - Graphic & Character Design

In this course, students will be introduced to basic graphic design techniques, and character design using Photoshop.

This course will include an overview of tools and techniques in Adobe Photoshop. These include, non-destructive editing techniques, layer based systems, and shape and text tools.

This Photoshop class is part of the full portfolio of training in Graphic & Character Design – also see the Illustrator and After Effects classes.

6.00pm Illustrator - Graphic & Character Design

30min Class

6.30pm After Effects - Graphic & Character Design

60min Class

This course will also cover basic animation techniques for motion graphics and character animation using AfterEffects.

This portion of the course will cover forms of animation movement, character rigging, the puppet tool, drawing tools within AfterEffects, composition creation, and other special effects.

Tuesdays
5.30pm Teen Filmmaker - Ages 11-13

This class is recommended for students between the ages of 11-13. Students experience new challenges and film gear while learning to film, edit and produce original films.

Levels of equipment change throughout the course to prepare students for our pre-foundations and foundations courses.

6.30pm Costuming: Body Art, Wearable Art, Cosplay, Airbrush Art and more!

This “master class” style experience allows students to explore different mediums in this project based course.

Challenges like producing “wearable art”, to body paint, street art, cosplay, airbursh art and tons of other mediums will be covered in this class. All levels welcome! This course includes monthly supply fees.

6.30pm Advanced Stop Motion

Build your backdrops, introduce your characters and bring your stop motion film to life!

*This class is a great choice for stop motion filmmakers interested in learning stop motion software and cameras! Kids LOVE bringing in their legos and other materials from home for this class.

6.30pm IMPROV - Ages 11+

Learn the art of improvisation through comedic storytelling, listening, engaging, heightening awareness and learning how to be more playful through character work, body language, scene starts, mime work, comedy and more!

Wednesdays
4.30pm Creative Photography - Ages 13-18

Join us as we learn the elements of creative photography! Students work on a variety of real world projects, from producing photo books to submitting photos for newspaper articles and participating in local photo exhibitions. Students also embark on a variety of fieldtrips throughout the school year as well!

*This is the only class where students are encouraged to provide their own camera whether it’s a smart phone, point and shoot, DSLR, etc.

5.00pm Editing on Final Cut Pro X

Students are given a range of ready shot projects which they then use to create while studying the processes and techniques involved in editing on Final Cut Pro X. In this project based course students will explore Final Cut Pro and learn how to navigate the software, learn awesome movie making tricks like green screen effects, masking, color correction, importing special effects and much more in this interactive classroom.

*This is a 30 minute supplemental class.

This one of a kind acting experience includes coaching in acting for the camera, voice work, audition techniques, learning how to perform on camera through monologues, scenes, improv and more!

6.30pm Pre-Foundations Film Ages 13+

Pre-Foundations is designed to get students ready for our intensive level foundations course.

Students are filming on a variety of camera gear, using external sound mics, editing and producing original festival quality short films as they learn the art and craft of filmmaking.

6.30pm SPECIAL EFFECTS MAKE UP & PROSTHETICS - Ages 13-18

In this specialty class, students learn a variety of make up techniques while using special effects make up to create their characters.

All materials and supplies are included with tuition. This is a very popular class at FFA, so be sure to grab your child’s spot quick!

5.00pm Journalism X - Ages 10 - 18

In partnership with the West Orange Times & Observer, this class merges all aspects of modern journalism as students work to be published writers. See your work in the local paper & at www.journalismx.com

Journalism X may also include field trips to off site venues for stories & news gathering.

*Depending on field trips, there may be additional minimal costs.

Students dive into the acting process, understanding genres and mastering storytelling all while honing their range of skill sets. From the classics to modern theater, students will explore the core of monologues, scene work, audition techniques and much more!

Kids will learn all about what it takes to create and manage their own YouTube channel. Students will learn how to story tell, create captivating characters, use their own unique personalities for their channels and more. Students learn the necessary skills to maintain their own channel at home.
