Entertainment Art & Animation for Teens
Recommended for student’s ages 13+
This 2 hour class teaches students how to create compelling characters, drawing fundamentals, color theory, page design, story design and much more.
We recommend a 2 hour experience so students can have one on one instruction from their instructor and dive into their creative process.
The class projects will be designed to show students the professional art process for film, animation, graphic novels, and video games through hands on application as student’s build their portfolio.
Animation: Character Design & Storyboard
This course will be focusing on how professional storyboards and characters are created for movies, animation, video games, and graphic novels.
Students will learn advanced anatomy, advanced character development, fashion design, advanced visual storytelling, visual layout, storyboarding, advanced character design, character outline, and story development. This course is advanced and students will be developing their own intellectual properties.
Animation Art: Homeschool Edition
This 2 hour class teaches students the fundamentals of drawing, color, and design. The class is designed to increase their artistic skills while sparking imagination.
Students will also have the opportunity to experiment and learn how to use several different mediums.
ANIMATION: Comic Book Studio Production
This course will focus primarily on visual storytelling and how it specifically pertains to children’s books and graphic novels.
Students in this class will learn industry techniques of how to construct preliminary sketches, page layout, dynamic visual design, and visual storytelling. The course will also focus on working with students in developing their own unique graphic art style and technique.

Meet the Instructor
Peter Smith has worked as a professional illustrator and graphic designer for 20 years. He graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio with a bachelor of fine arts degree with a focus on illustration and marketing. Over his career, Peter has worked for several larger companies including Disney, Universal Studios, Marvel Comics, Nike, Hot Topic and Abercrombie and Fitch to name a few.
Peter was also a professor for 5 years at Youngstown State University in the art department. There he taught character design, comic book illustration, concept art, graphic design, color theory, sculpture, digital design, and anatomy.
Peter is currently an owner, creative director, and artist for Crimson Fable Studios. This entertainment studio is presently producing a graphic novel titled the Chronicles of Zelaria, and has plans to branch out into animation and the video game industry in the near future.
